Akshay Kumar wants to play officer who killed Veerappan – Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar wants to essay a role of police officer K. Vijay Kumar who credited for killing sandalwood smuggler Veerappan. After playing the character inspired by Indian navy officer K.M Nanavati in drama flick “Rustom’, for which the actor bagged National Film Award and now Akshay Kumar wants to do the Indian police service officer on screen.
The legendary police officer Kumar headed the special task force of Tamil Nadu which executed Veerappan in the year 2004 in order to end the outlaw’s decades of terror on the border of Karnataka-Tamil Nadu. The actor was present at the event for showing his support to security agencies of the country, where he attended a launch of a book called, “Veerappan- Chasing The Brigand” here on Wednesday.
While asked which role among the two he would like to play, then Akshay Kumar said that, “Both Veerappan and K Vijay Kumar’s characters are so interesting, but honestly I would love to play the role of Vijay Kumar as the entire planning has been workout by him and how brilliantly he executed the whole operation.”
The recently launched book is first-hand proof of Veerappan’s end, which has been written by Vijay Kumar himself. The book release event was also attended by many politicians, bureaucrats and among others.
Last year, the director Ram Gopal Verma made a film on Veerappan’s life in Hindi as well as in Kannada titled as Killing Veerappan. The film received a decent response and also failed at the box office. In fact, filmmaker helmed another film ‘Jungle’ which was based on the life journey of Veerappan. The film starred Fardeen Khan and Urmila Matondkar in key roles.
After delivering three perpetual hits in 2016, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Jolly LLb 2 and Naam Shabana where he essayed a character of the Raw agent. He has three releases lined up in 2017, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padman and Tamil megastar Rajinikanth starrer 2.0.
