Lipstick Under My Burkha Review & Ratings – After facing a long and controversial battle with the Central Board of Film Certification, the upcoming Bollywood film Lipstick Under My Burkha is all set for worldwide release on Friday, 21st of July, 2017. The film has been written and directed by Alankrita Srivastava. It stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Sushant Singh, Aahana Kumra, Vikrant Massey and Plabita Borthakur in the leading roles. The story of the movie revolves around four women and their desires of becoming a singer, of financial independence, of touring to the big city and of enjoying life. So, let’s check out Lipstick Under My Burkha movie review, ratings and public response.
As per the Lipstick Under My Burkha Review, the movie deals with the four women of different ages, all of them living in the arena of Hawai Manzil in Bhopal. The first part is brilliant which reveals how these women have to face acute challenges, presented by society while fulfilling their dreams. On the other hand in the second half, the film story struggles to get into new directions.
Srivastava has an army of stunning actors, be it Konkona, Ratna, Sushant, Aahana or Vikrant all of them have played their characters impressively. Ratna Pathak has delivered various powerful roles, but this one is sure to surprise the audience. Konkona essays her part with full conviction. Plabita Borthakur and Aahana Kumra have given convincing performances. While Sushant is good in a negative role.
The music of the film is foot-tapping but tracks don’t have much scope. The background score is far better that gives a simple and light-hearted touch.
On the whole, this film deserves a huge praise as it may not drastically change things for women in our society, but it will certainly introduce a few boundary lines and talks about women & their dreams.
Lipstick Under My Burkha Ratings by Critics
While, overtly feminist movies have been trending for some time in other parts of the world and now in India, none are as bold and colorful as Alankrita Srivastava’s second directorial feature Lipstick Under My Burkha which will hit theaters this week. With the release of its official promo and trailer, the flick has received a mix response from the critics and audience too. The film merely talks about women nurturing their own desires and dreams that cross the boundaries of a male dominated society.
Lipstick Under My Burkha Rating: 3.5/5 STARS
Lipstick Under My Burkha Public Response
A directorial venture of Alankrita Srivastav brings in a lot of issues right from dictates on women’s dressing to sexual harassment in a marriage that addresses boldly in the film. With its brave premise, characters and storytelling Lipstick Under My Burkha Public Response on opening day is expected to be great. The movie which draws more attention to women’s desires & problems is likely to witness decent occupancy across the country on its first day. However, at the box office, the film may face an uphill task due to its unconventional content that will appeal only to niche viewers and that too observed in metro cities.
