Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah team up for a film – Around three years back the director Anant Mahadevan had announced a film called ‘The Storyteller’ in which he incorporated one of the most popular Bengali fictional characters of Satyajit Ray’s Tarini Ranjan Bandopadhay. Earlier it was reported that Paresh Rawal was to do a titular role in the movie, but due to his other commitments, the role went onto legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah. Post that, the movie got stuck for a long time.
But now the latest update revealed that Anand Mahadevan’s film is back on the track and it will feature the glorious presence of both actors Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah. Talking about the same, Paresh Rawal announced that, “Soon will be doing the movie which has been written by Satyajit Ray himself. With Naseeruddin Shah and directed by Anand Mahadevan.”
During an interview, the filmmaker told that “It is like a Ray meets Hitchcock in a quaint manner as there are two delightful twists in the tale. It’s one of the few stories of Tarini that has been grounded in reality, without a touch of supernatural things.”
Adding that after acquiring the rights to the storyline which revolves around Tarini Khuro was the third character developed by Ray and a Gujarati businessman, the director had approached Paresh Rawal to play a latter role.
But the actor didn’t want to play a Gujarati businessman and thus Anand pointed out that it would be a stereotyped casting. So he could play Khuro instead. Now Naseer will play the role of the Gujarati industrialist, while Paresh Rawal confirmed the news that the film’s producer Joydeep Biswas had revealed that the makers have roped in two powerhouse actors as leads.
The veteran actors have earlier seen in several movies including China Gate, Sir, Mirch Masala, and Maharathi etc.
